Cylindrical Battery Cells for Industrial, Commercial and OEM Applications
Lithium cylindrical battery cells, commonly referred to as Lithium-Ion cells, are one of several cell formats offered by VPW and are often an economical choice for those seeking low-cost lithium cells. As one of the most widely used packaging styles for lithium cells, this format has an excellent reliability record and offers one of the lowest costs per watt-hour of all lithium cell formats.
An increased level of safety is achieved through the use of an outer housing, which can withstand high internal pressures without deforming. Most of today’s cylindrical battery cells also feature a pressure relief mechanism or membrane seal that ruptures under high pressure mitigating safety hazards.
With high specific energy, excellent mechanical stability, and long calendar life, cylindrical cells lend themselves well to portable applications including power tools, medical instruments, and e-bikes. While the most common cell size is 18650, the lithium-ion cylindrical cell is available in a wide array of sizes including 14500, 26650 and 32650 to name a few.
